Social Media Expert Shelise
Shelise Sola is a small town Utah girl who always had big aspirations to end up in Hollywood. After moving around to Portland, Las Vegas, and London she finished her Bachelor of Fine Art in Fashion Design degree and landed in Los Angeles. After a couple years of the grind as a waitress she jumped ship and decided she was going to work freelance in Acting and wardrobe styling no matter what. It was that fire that propelled her to meet the right people and start booking.
She went on tour with Yo Gabba Gabba Live to do wardrobe and upon returning started styling commercials for Veteran’s PSAs, Proctor & Gamble and other big companies. She was then given a TV show exclusively styling and designing/making costumes for Animals on Nick Jr.’s Mutt & Stuff that went on for 2 years. That was the beginning of her “animal niche” in costuming.
Two years was a long time away from acting and she longed to be back in front of the camera. Towards the end of Mutt & Stuff she randomly met big time YouTuber/Influencer/Actor @kingbach who invited her to be in one of his videos. She had no real understanding of the value of Instagram and had no idea what was about to unfold. Once King Bach posted the video they did together her following went from 600 to 3,000 overnight. Literally. It grew to about 6,000 in one week as the video got over 5 million views. She began hanging out with that whole crew (@amandacerny , @lelepons , @curtislepore , @raydiaz , @splack , @destorm etc) and learned the ins and outs of what IG was all about and how to film comedy skits. She was in multiple other skits with these people and her following continued to boom.
Now she continues to style for commercials and TV shows, makes IG content, and auditions as much as possible. She joined Career ACTivate one year ago and has enjoyed learning the business side of the industry. Last year she booked 11 commercials and 1 indie feature as the lead. Some of those commercials and the feature film cast her directly through her IG. She recently booked a job that is shooting promotional material for a spiritual retreat center filming in Peru for 3 weeks and they told her a big reason she was chosen was because of the way she interacted with her audience on her IG stories and because of her following.
She is very excited to see what year 2 in Career ACTivate will bring and is also excited to start helping her fellow actors navigate the often daunting world of Instagram.
